If We Took A Holiday… Madonna says, “if we took a holiday, just some time to celebrate, just one day out of life, (it would be so) it would be so nice!” Even one of the most talented dancers and performers of our time takes a moment to celebrate during the holiday season. There are so many ways to celebrate one another and togetherness in general. You can send a thoughtful note, text, get coffee or dinner, attend a holiday dance or simply enjoy your time together. It’s important to take some time to celebrate. We no longer stuff our carts to the brim with gifts on Black Friday, waiting eagerly for stores doors to open right at midnight, scrambling for the best deals on flashy items. These days, people have reverted back to simpler times where meaningful gifts take the spotlight. A lot of “stuff” collects dust, but carefully chosen elegance and items which align with our day to day activities are appreciated deeply. The dancers in your life need specific things to perfect their craft. It’s that simple. Jewelry Jewelry is a classic gift for your dancer. Ballroom jewelry is a great example...

If you’re anything like me, shoe shopping is a nightmare. Between my feet being different sizes to there being a little bony part on my foot, the process of finding the perfect pair of shoes is less-than-perfect. And even if I find something that’s comfy now, how do I know it’ll be comfortable after a few hours? Picking out dance shoes is even more complicated, so here are my tips on how to choose dance shoes. But first: what makes dance shoes so special? Dance shoes are athletic shoes made with a specific purpose in mind. Just like there are cleats for soccer (with little spikes that help grip the ground) and running shoes for a marathon (that help absorb shock and push off the ground), dance shoes are made to help your body through the natural motions of dance. Want more info? Here’s a bit more about ballroom dance shoes. So, without further ado, here are my tips for choosing dance shoes! Snug as a dancer in shoes. The first thing you have to keep in mind is the fit. Your shoe has to provide support and not fly off your foot -- so it...
We get it. You wear shirts (almost) every day. They’re an integral part of your wardrobe. Even more, dance shirts often look like formal shirts. So, what makes dance competition shirts different, and why do you even need one? The feeling of freedom. Say you’re in a work meeting. Will you ever need to put your arms up? (Is that a yes over there? What kind of job do you do? I want in!) More likely, though, your answer is no. Formal shirts are made with this in mind: they’re not meant to move around in. It’s the same reason you wouldn’t wear a formal shirt to go work out, even if the shirt were super inexpensive. Dance shirts, however, are meant to move. Most shirts are very stretchy, simultaneously allowing for great fit and a wide range of motion. All of this means that you’re going to feel comfortable---something that’s nigh impossible when it comes to most formal shirts. What allows for this? First, the fabric dance competition shirts are made of is stretchable in and of itself. Dance competition shirts are also made out of athletic fabric to match the athletic nature of dance...
